MakaChain is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built for payments and stablecoin transfers. Its defining feature is that transaction fees are paid in the same token you're sending — no separate gas token required. It uses Proof of Authority consensus and launched its mainnet in Q4 2025.
MakaChain is designed for merchant settlement, remittances and stablecoin payments. Developers can use standard Ethereum tooling including Solidity, Hardhat, Foundry, ethers.js, viem and web3.js. MakaWallet (self-custody wallet) and MakaPay (merchant payment gateway) are built on MakaChain.
MakaChain was co-founded by Tomás Pérez Quevedo and Chad Barron. The project operates under Maka Foundation, a legal entity registered in the Cayman Islands.
BCF Services Ltd holds a marketing agreement with Maka Foundation. MakaWallet was developed in collaboration with BCF Services and is published by BCF Services on the Apple App Store, and by Maka Foundation on Google Play and the Chrome Web Store.
MakaChain is a functioning Layer 1 blockchain with a live mainnet (chain ID 777178), a public block explorer, published contract addresses, and two independent security audits by Hacken. It is an early-stage project and the full audit reports are published below rather than summarised.
Verifiable: live mainnet at rpc.makachain.io · public explorer at explorer.makachain.io · two Hacken audits (blockchain and bridging) linked in full · published contract addresses. MakaPay and MakaWallet have also been audited by Halborn; those reports are pending publication. All security findings raised by Hacken were resolved and approved by Hacken. A number of observations were accepted rather than changed, because they relate to intentional design decisions specific to MakaChain's architecture rather than defects.
